This page contains my collection of Halloween Greetings. Victorian America of
the 1880's believed that Halloween was a holiday brought to America by the
genteel of England (not Ireland, as was in fact the case.) They publicized it
as such in children's and ladies' periodicals and as a holiday, they concerned
themselves with entertainments and games. Romantic fortune telling was the
primary emphasis of Victorian Halloween fun. Divination, ghost stories, parlor
games (such as bobbing for apples, jumping over candle sticks and the like) and
matchmaking were other Halloween pastimes, all intended for Victorian adults
not children. Not until the early twentieth century did the celebration of
Halloween become the domain of children. Below are 14 Victorian Halloween
greeting cards with assorted themes. These are free for you to use, with our
compliments. Click on any thumbnail and it will open a new window displaying
the full size card. Additional graphic sets are available for purchase, each
containing 100's of high-resolution graphics at a nominal cost. If you are
